This list began as a page on Tom Igoe's website, was blogged about by Bre Pettis, and now is this wiki page. Please add any suppliers you use and like with a description about them. While copying over the list, I have updated information if I noticed it was out of date.

This is a diverse list of suppliers for the different aspects of your projects. Electronics, glass work, wood work, casting, molding, art, and so on.

Just so there is some consistency, follow the "Build It Green! NYC" entry style. We can change this later.

Davis and Warschau NEEDS FIXING

They do pipe work. Ask for Dennis. They have decent prices and they cut their pipes well; nice clean edges. They have everything you could possibly want in black steel plumbing pipes. They deliver. If you want untreated black steel that's not threaded call Mount Vernon Iron Works. Submitted by David Schwarz.

Mr. Wong (the owner) can help you track down a hard to find part or identify an unmarked component. His chip prices are criminally expensive, BUT he seems to spend his days unsoldering old electronics and harvesting the resistors, capacitors, potientometers, and so forth. If you ever have a sudden pressing need for 10 MegaOhm resistors the size of small rigatoni and can’t wait for a SparkFun delivery, this is the place to go.

One thing I would add to this list is Sid’s hardware in Downtown Brooklyn around the corner from Metrotech. It’s big and it’s near where I work so I can pick things up from there easy peasy.
