It's your responsibility to bring folks along multiple times *MSG - it's tomorrow. how often should we have them. We voted for once a month, and to do other public events when we can. It'll be hard for many of us to be here twice a week every other week. *How do we grow **Friend of a core member **We don't have a good membership process... **Zach: We have this public thing, we make up some short little form, n application form, if you want to be a member, at the meeting we vote. ***Eric B: There's a chance that we won't know who that person is. **Okay. I have a friend, John Bob, He's really cool, I think he'd be a perfect candidate. I say to John Bob "We've got this group that kicks ass I'd really like you to come to our public meetup, and bring something cool." John Bob comes to the public meeting, I announce to the list that he's going to be there and say "check him out and make sure he's not your ex-boyfriend^H^H^H^H^H^H arch-nemesis." At the next meeting, I'm going to ask for any objections. We vote, then invite if there's no objections, he's in. Private objections are acceptable. You're responsible for the person you invite, it's also your job to initiate them and make them feel comfortable. (Don't forget to bring them to meetings, get them on the right lists, etc) **John Beeb comes to an event. None of us are friends, but he's got a really cool project. He's interesting, and he says "I want to be a member" or we think he should be a member. We say "that's awesome, come to a few events". After a while, someone decides to be responsible for his invitation (see above) **Bre was rejected from Soil twice. Their applicaiton is kind of intense, you have to turn in 12 slides, fill out a long form, etc, and they only allow new members when someone leaves. When someone leaves, they hold meetings, and need 100% consensus. Bre felt like "okay, it's kinda hard to get in" so his ego wasn't bruised. **Hans has been a member of another membership group where you pay $40 a month to use the shop, metalworking, etc. Anyone who shows up and pays $40 is a member. It's a pretty chaotic bunch. I don't think anyone there would think we really should have restricted the membership. People would show up and kick ass for 6 months and then leave. We did have a couple people here and there that were a pain in the ass, but with enough people there we could deal with them and ask them to leave. **Max has had women respond well to the idea of a space that's slow to allow new folks, it means the real trouble folks can be weekend out. **We voted: Procedure for in *We need to get liability forms going *We've got a phone! ==Voted membership procedure== *Okay.
