To communicate over local VHF/UHF 2m/70cm repeaters like N2ROW, you'll need to adjust your radio to a particular frequency, offset, and CTCSS tone.

This can be done manually on the radio itself. But it's typically easier to manage all those freq./offset/tone combinations with CHIRP.

CHIRP is free software that runs on a computer and connects to your radio with a programming cable. Even inexpensive radios like Baofengs are compatible with CHIRP.
